Hewitt, the former owner of the Halstead Antiques Centre on the Essex/Suffolk border, said: “Manningtree is in the heart of affluent Essex and having sold at the Manningtree vintage market* since it started last year, I know that the town’s residents plus people from Colchester, Ipswich and surrounding areas love browsing and buying antique and vintage pieces.”

Hewitt described the location as ideal and added: “We are ahead of target at the open-plan warehouse-style centre with 36 dealers and a waiting list for the units, cabinets and industrial shelving units which are an inexpensive way to display pieces. We also have an opportunity to expand.’’

Although not a collector himself, Hewitt is a fan of Art Deco and particularly likes to mix periods. The Manningtree Emporium is at 1516 Jubilee End and can be contacted via its Facebook page.

*The Manningtree brocante-style vintage market runs on the first Saturday of the month from May to October in the town’s Masonic Hall.
