The 2ft 4in (70cm) wide tilt-top (also shown above as detail) was painted and inscribed The Death of a Stag at Glen Tilt after the famous Landseer painting for the Duke of Atholl.
Offered at Summers Place Auctions (25% buyer’s premium) in Billingshurst, on September 25, the table, with its original castors, sold within estimate to a phone bidder at £3200.
