A captain’s uniform of the 6th Bn, pictured above, sold for £1100 when it was offered at Lewes saleroom Wallis & Wallis (20% buyer’s premium) on October 15 with an estimate of £300-400.

Featuring medal ribbons for the 1914-15 Star and War Medal, it was marked inside HG Grant- Logan and 1914.

It came in a tin trunk marked 6th Bn The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) which featured various other items including a black leather Sam Browne belt with cross strap and sword frog, two pairs tartan trews and two pairs of boots with spurs.

The 6th Bn took part in many notable actions on the Western Front and in 1918 it was heavily involved in the Hundred Days Offensive from August 8-November 11 which finally defeated the Germans.
