She bought her first antique with pocket money in her childhood and it was to be the start of over 80 years of buying and selling.

Mary was a regular at Portobello Road and Covent Garden Market during the 1970s and ‘80s and went on to set up her own shop, 7-Ninety Antiques in Harrow Weald in 1982, where she and her husband Peter enjoyed over 18 years of dealing before retiring to Suffolk.

She didn’t have much of a retirement though and was soon involved in helping me [Mary’s daughter] to set up an antiques business in Beccles, followed a few years later by her son Tim Pearson also opening an antiques business. Both son and daughter continue in the trade.

Mary was still buying and selling despite ill health just months before her death; a testament to her passion for all things interesting and beautiful. Her enthusiasm, knowledge and joy will remain with us all.
