A gold bracelet by Omar Ramsden that sold at £22,000 at Woolley & Wallis.
Composed of four uniform square plaques, each set with four conical chrysoprase cabochons, a Gothic script letter spells out the name Anne – a clue to its creation for Ramsden’s wife, Anne (née Downs Butcher).
It is hallmarked for 1931 and is typically engraved Omar Ramsden Me Fecit MCMXXXI.
Like many lots in the £590,000 sale of this 50-year collection, it attracted multiple online and phone bidders before comfortably exceeding pre-sale expectations – in this case a modest estimate of £2000-3000.
