To ensure the bill is enforced, officers from the regulator – the Office for Product Safety and Standards – will have powers to search property alongside police and customs officers.

However, these powers have been clarified and reduced in these newly tabled amendments. A number of other amendments, fought for by art and antiques representatives in the Upper House, were not successful.
