The official tie-up with three other ‘stylish living’ events that organiser Clarion runs concurrently at Olympia means the entrance will open out onto the whole House & Garden Festival.

Elements from all four events will be incorporated into the entrance between the two main halls, with The Art & Antiques Fair Olympia accessed to one side and the three other events to the other.

Fair director Mary Claire Boyd is hoping that this “grand-scale shopping emporium” will “attract a brand new audience to the world of art and antiques”.

The normal entrance to the art and antiques fair on Hammersmith Road will remain open as usual.

WHAT’S NEW?

This year’s The Art & Antiques Fair Olympia will be part of the House & Garden Festival, bringing the venerable antiques event under a new banner along with the HOUSE interior design fair, Spirit of Summer show and GROW London.

One ticket will access the whole festival, while the tie-up of different shows has added to the number and variety of talks and events being held at Olympia.

While the three other events run from June 20-24, the art and antiques fair has an extra day added this year and will have an eight-day run.

EVENTS

With The Art & Antiques Fair Olympia becoming part of the House & Garden Festival, this year’s festival has a more diverse range of events.

The line-up of speakers for its talks programme indicates a strong leaning toward interior design with topics such as Decorating on a Budget (Gail Taylor, June 20), How to Combine Contemporary Design and Antiques when Renovating a Period Property (Joanna Wood/Tim Gosling, June 22) and Mixing Middle Eastern Furniture and Artefacts with Contemporary and English Antiques (Eliská Sapera, June 27).

For lovers of art and horticulture, a talk on the garden designed by Victorian artist Lord Frederick Leighton will be given by Patricia Maitland, who is working with a team of volunteers on its restoration.

Daily tours of highlights around the fair will be hosted by art consultant Vanessa Curry.
