Three gold championship medals for the 1923-24, 24-25 and 25-26 First Division seasons, awarded to George ‘Bomber’ Brown of Huddersfield Town FC, which sold for £15,000 at Sheffield Auction Gallery.
In the 1926-27 season he scored 35 goals to help the Terriers win their third successive 1st Division championship. Brown went on to play for Aston Villa, Burnley and Leeds, as well as England.
A group of his medals was offered in the April 20 sale at Sheffield Auction Gallery 18.5% buyer’s premium).
Top sellers were three gold championship medals, above, for the 1923-24, 24-25 and 25-26 seasons, which went on their lower estimate of £15,000.
