The oil by Flanders-born painter Roeland Savery (1576-1639) was knocked down to a bidder on lot-tissimo at €810,000 (£724,152).
The consignor had originally contacted larger auction houses in Germany but was unable to generate interest and went with her local auctioneer Walter Ginhart.
Paradise, painted in 1625, was one of the artist’s many landscapes depicting animals, both fanciful and real. Bidding had started at €15,000.
