Running from Friday, June 29-Sunday, July 1, the series of talks, walks, exhibitions and demonstrations act as a sort of salute to the area and to the art, both traditional and contemporary, that it represents.

More than 40 galleries around Mayfair and St James’s take part in the fifth edition of the event, which also coincides with the 250th anniversary at the Royal Academy of Arts, the event’s official partner. The RA’s Annenberg Courtyard serves as a hub for MAW, providing a space for public talks, workshops, food and entertainment as well as a meeting spot for tours.

Other partners include The Pollen Estate, which runs the ‘Cork Street Galleries’ initiative, and law firm Boodle Hatfield. They are joined by creative partners Victoria Beckham and Max Mara – a rare chance for galleries and fashion businesses in this area to unite under the same banner.

Among the participants are Browse & Darby, The Fine Art Society, Hignell Gallery, Robilant + Voena, Peter Harrington Rare Books and Stair Sainty. The event coincides with anniversaries at Anneley Juda (50 years), Mall Galleries (25 years), The Redfern Gallery (95 years) and others.

Exhibitions include A Taste for Sculpture V at Brun Fine Art and Land of Lads, Land of Lashes at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac. A leather binding demonstration takes place at Peter Harrington and Stern Pissarro hosts a temporary live art studio.
