Some of the pieces on offer were those illustrated in The Jewellery and Silver of HG Murphy (2005) by Paul Atterbury and John Benjamin, with others forming part of unused stock in trade.

The Salisbury sale of Arts & Crafts on July 20 included a matched three-piece silver café au lait set (London 1931 and 1937). Together weighing 79oz, the suite, shown below, sold at £6200 (estimate £3000-4000).

A set of four Murphy napkin rings with wirework decoration, London 1935, sold in the original fitted case for £1100 while a rare oblong form vinaigrette with niello decoration, London 1929, brought £550.

Many more affordable lots were on offer including a Falcon Studio silver child’s fork, London 1937, with its terminal formed as a stylised polar bear. The hammer price was £100.
