Edward Cruttenden of Sunbury Antiques Market has recently held the fourth outing of this fair and reports that “it is ticking along quite nicely”.

“Every show is getting more popular and listening to what people want from a fair we hope it can only get better,” he said. “We expanded our outside trading area for the first time at the fourth market and are pleased that we can now offer more outside pitches.”

Cruttenden believes that introducing more inside and outside furniture pitches will “ultimately have a positive knock-on effect for everyone”.

He added that “most of the regular traders from our antiques market at Kempton Park Racecourse are supporting us as well as some traders who supported the fair previously, so percentage-wise we have increased new trade by nearly 70%”.

Marketing the market

Sunbury Antiques Market has been concentrating not only on marketing and advertising the market through its “usual global and national channels” but also directly at private buyers through local radio adverts, street-by-street targeted leaflet drops and on-line magazines focusing on Surrey and surrounding counties.

“We know that the areas around Sandown Park is a huge market to tap into and are confident we can attract these buyers,” said Cruttenden. “Also continuing our policy of free admission and car parking helps us all and attracts those who are simply inquisitive. Come one, come all, I say.”

The Sandown Antiques Markets are held on the first Tuesday of the month, with the next on Tuesday, August 7.
