The tiles, which measure a little under 6in (15cm) square each, were made c.1900 by Heimixen and show one bird perched, one swooping in on a butterfly and another in flight. The set will be on the stand of decorative tile specialist Richard Hoppé, returning to the fair after several years away, where it is priced at £185.
At the fully booked fair, classic antiques and decorative pieces rub shoulders, supplied by a cohort of 43 dealers. Newcomers to this staging include Thomas Spencer Fine Art from London and Dorset, and Rug Addiction. The newly rebranded Ashill Court Antiques (formerly ‘Just Old Wood’) is also exhibiting, as are Twentieth Century Glamour, Plaza and Brian Ashbee.
“This is where people come to decorate and furnish their homes in their own personal style, mixing and matching antique and contemporary with Mid-Century accessories, fine art, sculpture and furniture from the past centuries,” says fair organiser Sue Ede of Cooper Events.
