Silverwoods’ Fine Art and Antiques auction on July 25 in Clitheroe, Lancashire, will include this mid-19th century double-barrel percussion-cap pistol by JW Edge of Manchester.
With a sprung-top stiletto bayonet and slide-away steel ramrod, the gun features double triggers with a safety catch, diamond-diced walnut grips and an ammunition capsule to the butt with two lead balls.

Bought by the vendor in a church fête in Somerset, this small 6¾ x 7in (17.5 x 18.5cm) watercolour drawing by Modern British stalwart Mary Fedden (1915-2012) will go under the hammer at Charterhouse in Sherborne on July 27.
The watercolour, dated 1978, carries an estimate of £1000-2000.
This pair of large-scale 2ft 2in (66cm) high Italian majolica snake-handled vases, decorated with hand-painted classical and biblical scenes, dates to the late 19th century.
The vases share similarities with the Cantagalli Pottery in Florence, which produced highly decorative Italian ceramics in the Renaissance maiolica style under owner Ulisse Cantagalli (1839-1901). Cantagalli marked his works with a cockerel symbol, which are not visible on these examples.
The vases have some restoration and are estimated at £800-1200 in Dominic Winter’s Antiques & 20th Century Design sale on July 19 in South Cerney, Cirencester.

More than 70 Holtzapffel ornamental turning chisels are contained within this early 20th century mahogany and ebony inlay triptych cabinet.
Holtzapffel was founded in 1794 by Jean-Jacques Holtzapffel and made lathes and high-quality turning chisels for ornamental wood turning until the business closed in 1928.
The cabinet is estimated at £1500-2000 in the 1818 Auctioneers’ sale on July 30 in Milnthorpe, Cumbria.
