Among the stand-out sales across 160 international dealers was this pair of figural wine coolers by Storr and Hunt, offered by Koopman Rare Art. The pair, with an asking price of £285,000, were bought by a collector.
A pastel portrait, La Mariée, by Eva Gonzalès (1847-83), was among the highlight sales at London Art Week, which ended last week.
The picture was included in dealer Stephen Ongpin’s exhibition Watteau to Gauguin: French drawings of the 18th and 19th centuries, held at his gallery in St James’s. The pastel sold to a European private collector for a price in the region of £350,000.
The gallery was one of around 40 members of the festival of art which ran from June 29-July 6 around Mayfair and St James’s.
