An auction of coins, tokens and banknotes at Tennants on February 7 in Leyburn, North Yorkshire, includes this well-preserved Elizabethan gold half-pound coin.

Minted in London in 1560-61 (as denoted by the presence of a ‘Cross Crosslet’ mint mark), the coin was equivalent to 10 shillings or a third of a sovereign. It is estimated at £4000-5000.

Somerset auction house Greenslade Taylor Hunt is offering 41 paintings by the German Expressionist painter Ernst Neuschul (1895-1968).

The collection has been consigned by the family of the artist, who fled to England from Nazi Germany in 1939, and will be offered in a sale on February 1 in Taunton.

A highlight is Der Maler und sein Werk, a large, 3ft 11in x 3ft 3in (1.20 x 1m), oil on canvas painted in 1958.

It carries an estimate of £3000-4000.

A private collection of 11 drawings and watercolours loaned to the Ashmolean Museum will be sold at Mallams Oxford on February 28.

The group was formed by the late Jean and Bill Beale, who lived in London through the 1960s and ‘70s. Many purchases were made from New Bond Street art galleries such as Colnaghi, John Baskett and Richard Day. The collection was loaned to the Ashmolean in the 1990s.

Included is this 8½ x 5½in (22 x 14cm) brown ink drawing by Italian Baroque painter Giacinto Gimignani (1611-81). Estimated at £3000-5000, it depicts the Madonna and Child with saints Anthony of Padua and Anthony Abbot among other figures.

Hickmet Fine Arts of London is selling this Art Nouveau Secessionist glass vase by the Austrian glassworks company, Johann Loetz.

The 7in (18cm) high piece, featuring a petrol blue iridescent surface and mounted in a twin-handled stylised frame, is priced at £3350.

Dating from 1900, it captures the transition from the Art Nouveau period, European Secessionist and Arts & Crafts movements into the Art Deco age.
