Summer Shower by Scottish artist Robert Gemmell Hutchison sold for £6000 at John Nicholson’s auction.
Summer Shower depicts two young girls resting under an umbrella in a wind-swept landscape and is typical of genre paintings Hutchison is known for.
Although undated, the 12 x 9½in (30 x 24cm) oil on board is believed to date from c.1900 and had at some point passed through the Pyms Gallery in London. It was estimated at £5000-7000 on December 20 and sold to a private collector.
