1. Alec Walker (1889-1964) is best known in textile circles as the creator of Cryséde fabrics, a silk printing firm in Newlyn, Cornwall, in 1920. He was also an artist and painted this 20 x 23in (50 x 60cm) oil which tipped over top estimate at Holloway’s of Banbury in Oxfordshire.

2. This work by Dutch painter Corneille (1922-2010) is a departure from the unrestrained use of colour usually associated with his work. Called Nude Holding Baby, the 8 x 9in (20 x 23cm) pastel drawing was estimated at £500-700 and sold at Criterion in Islington, London, on December 10.

3. Estimated at £40-60, this 12 x 18½in (30 x 47cm) oil gouache on board was a mini-sleeper at Boningtons on December 10 in Epping, Essex. Its success lies in the painting’s signature, A Jegorov, which probably refers to the established Estonian-born landscapist Andrei Jegorov (1878-1954).
