The exhibition, which runs from January 16, is a chance to purchase examples of works by well-known artists for more affordable prices, starting at around £12,500.
London-born Wardle had his first painting displayed at the Royal Academy at the age of 16, and specialised in paintings of animals, both domestic and exotic, throughout his career. On the open market his works can reach well over £50,000 and his auction high reached at Christie’s London in 2013, according to the Art Sales Index, was £337,875.
Featuring two curious dogs, the painting on offer at the New Bond Street gallery is offered for £32,000 + ARR.
The curated exhibition offers a range of subjects, periods and styles including landscape, portraiture, marine, sporting, still-life and genre painting from the 17th to the 20th century. They feature provenances from stately homes, public institutions and purchases direct from the artists. Each is offered framed.
Among the other highlights are a flower-piece by Antoine Monnoyer, watercolours by the famed British bird painter Archibald Thorburn, a still-life by Jean-François Raffaelli and Modern British artworks by masters including Edward Seago and Alan Davie.
This is the second occasion that the gallery has run this exhibition covering a different price range to its typical higher-end stock, and aims to appeal to new collectors.
Its other recent shows have included Royal Academicians at Richard Green, Edward Seago: Ludham to London and Beyond and Newlyn to St Ives.
