This 15in (39cm) long burgundy model of Jessie, above, a ¾in scale Allchin Showman’s engine by Taylor Hemmens of Market Harborough, forms part of a collection of steam engines and accessories for sale on August 16 at Bristol Auction Rooms in Ashton.

Guided at £600-800, it is fitted with a pressure gauge, two road speeds, a whistle, an open crank water pump and a belt-driven lighting generator fitted to the front. 

A first edition copy of Richard Adams’ (1920-2016) 1972 adventure novel Watership Down will feature in a sale of books at Chiswick Auctions in west London on August 22.

American artist Robert E McGinnis (b.1926) designed this full-size, 2ft 6in x 3ft 4in (76cm x 1.01m), original poster for the 1967 James Bond film You Only Live Twice.

Bond, played in the film by Sean Connery, flies the autogyro Little Nellie above a detail of the interior of Blofeld’s volcano silo (a set at Pinewood Studios so vast clouds are said to have formed inside it).

It is among more than a dozen vintage film posters consigned to Gildings Auctioneers in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, on August 21.

Beginning in 1973, the medallist John Pinches (1916-2007) created a set of sterling silver medallic ingots depicting 1000 years of the British monarchy.

Each representing a different king or queen showing the monarch’s head and a depiction of a famous scene from their reign, the set of 50 ingots were made in a limited edition and contained in a 2ft (62cm) wide fitted wooden case.

This example comes with a book by English historian Arthur Bryant and is estimated at £1000-1200 at Plymouth Auctions in Cattedown on August 29.
