The self-funded project is designed to help document the collecting histories behind these widely coveted objects. In time she hopes the system will help determine the number of Martinware birds still in existence as well as how many were produced.

The passports are similar in style to government-issue documents complete with a black linen binding, silver leaf embossed covers, photographs of the bird in question and unique identity numbers.

Davey is undertaking to distribute them to collectors and curators who contact her, on a complimentary basis.
