Taking place from April 17-22, it is the second of the popular event’s three annual editions.
Founded in 1985, the fair offers everything from ancient art, sculpture, contemporary art and photography and more. However, at the spring edition it is garden-related decoration in metal, wood or stone that can particularly attract buyers.
An Ornamental Menagerie serves as the theme for the spotlight foyer exhibition. From exhibiting dealers it brings together a variety of objects featuring animals, from chinoiserie Ho Ho birds to furniture with carved classical lions’ paws to folk art featuring domesticated beasts.
This element of the fair is devised to serve as inspiration for shoppers on how to decorate the home, illustrating how objects of different styles and time periods can work together.
At the Battersea winter edition in January, there were sell-out stands and sales to many new clients. The fair continues to be a favourite for dealers, some of whom stand at all three annual editions. Among the first-time exhibitors for the next staging is English furniture specialist Delobelle & Delobelle from Belgium, as well as a number of UK dealers such as Violet Grey Decorative Gardens with garden antiques and vintage accessories, William Cook Antiques with fine furniture, Twentieth Century Posters, mid-20th century design specialist Tom Stewart-Liberty and decorative antiques and 20th century design dealer Hossack & Gray.
Ethnographic and Asian artefacts dealer Jonathan Hope, English country house and Indian furniture dealer Mark Jones and Julian Simon Fine Art, bringing a selection of English and Continental paintings, are among the returning dealers at this edition.
The mezzanine level will be open as usual, providing space for exhibitors as well as the brasserie and bar Megan’s Kitchen. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
