A collection of around 120 pieces of modern Moorcroft Pottery has been consigned to Lawrences of Crewkerne. It was compiled by a lady in the Yeovil area over a 20-year period with the items purchased through department stores or through the Moorcroft Collectors Club.
Concentrating on limited-edition pieces and unusual designs, the group was described by Simon Jones of Lawrences as “the best modern collection of Moorcroft Pottery I have seen in my 20 years here”.
Estimates range from £100-1000 per lot and among the items on offer at the October 12 sale is this Timbavati design vase, guided at £1000-1500.
Surrey auctioneers Ewbank’s is holding a Toys & Models sale on October 5 and among the items on offer is this scale-model Stuart Major Beam engine.
Powering a six-spoke 35.5cm (14in) flywheel, it is based on an eighth scale model designed by George Gentry that was serialised in Model Engineer magazine throughout 1914.
This example has an electric motor fitted in the base. It is estimated at £1000-1500.
