At its centre is an 80-lot collection of works by French and Belgium Symbolist painters from the late 19th century and early 20th centuries.

Among them is this large 4ft 3in x 6ft 5in (1.3 x 2m) oil on canvas by Victor Brugairolles, Le Berger et la mer (the Shepherd and the Sea), a subject inspired by the Fontaines Fables and similar in treatment to the work of another well-known name in this movement, Puvis de Chavannes.

The painting, which was shown at the Salon des Artistes in 1900, is estimated at €30,000-40,000.
