It is the image used on the flyer for the 60-dealer South of England Postcard Fair to be held in Woking on Friday and Saturday September 15-16.
Founded more than 40 years ago by a group of postcard dealers who felt that this rapidly expanding hobby needed a more professional approach, the Postcard Traders Association represents some of the UK’s principal dealers.
The PTA also runs the biannual postcard fair in Surrey at the Woking Leisure Centre.
Dealer Lee Marchant, who organises the fair for the PTA, says: “Cards are at all prices and it’s not unusual to find these at £50-plus. You would expect to pay £25-40 for the card pictured on the fair’s flyer, depending on condition and the dealer offering it.” Marchant adds: “Although subjects such as humour, sport and military are good sellers, it is always topographical and overseas cards which top the collecting list.
“Good motor transport and social history cards are perennially popular and will always be so for the rarer material.”
