More than 400 lots are on offer from his house on Strudhofsteige as well as stock from his former antique shop. The sale includes Old Master and 19th century paintings and works of art, but the main focus will be on Hoffstatter’s personal collection of Jugendstil.

It includes pieces by many of the best-known artists and designers of this movement, such as Josef Hoffmann; Dagobert Peche, Otto Prutscher and Josef Frank.

Pictured above is a ceramic fountain designed by Prutscher and made by Wienerberger Keramik c.1926. It was formerly in the villa of the Austrian actor Josef Meinrad (1913-96) and is estimated at €30,000-40,000.

The sideboard pictured above, from c.1920, decorated in polychrome and silver with floral motifs, was designed by Dagobert Peche and made by the Wiener Werkstätte.

It is estimated at €20,000-30,000 in the same auction.
