The LSWR loco and tender were marked Gebruder Marklin & Cie, the rolling stock was marked for Gebruder Bing and the original wooden box with lithograph label proclaimed it was retailed by AW Gamage.
All of which, plus the good condition of the set, suggested the £70-100 estimate would be left in the sidings and so it proved when the train set sold online at £2300.
