A pair of scarce English polychrome delft plates decorated with smoking bottle kilns will feature in Halls’ sale in Shrewsbury on November 22. Dating to c.1750 and attributed to Vauxhall, the plates have been consigned by a local Shropshire vendor and estimated at £400-500 each.

Cottees of Poole in Dorset is a specialist in Poole Pottery and holds some of the largest dedicated sales twice a year.

The latest offering, scheduled for October 28, will include this 15in (38cm) wide Persian deer dish, decorated by Anne Hatchard and dating to the time when the pottery was still called Carter Stabler Adams in the early 20th century. Estimate £350-400.
