All planned shows at the venue are due to go ahead while the works take place. Owners Yoo Capital and Deutsche Finance have hired architect Heatherwick Studio with SPPARC Architects to oversee the project.
Olympia fair director Mary Claire Boyd said: “We are delighted that Olympia London, the venue for our two annual art and antiques fairs, has appointed Heatherwick Studio for architectural enhancements. It is a wonderful, iconic building with 130 years of event history. The planned improvements to the communal areas and retail units will be good news for both our exhibitors and our visitors.”
The changes to the complex will be subject to planning permission and no dates have been set.
John Hitchcox, chairman of Yoo, said: “As we are in the very early stages we cannot confirm definite timelines yet. Our aim is to keep all shows running while we are working on enhancing the estate.”
