This Pilkington’s Royal Lancastrian lustre vase painted by Richard Joyce sold for £6000 at Dreweatts on October 24.
Painted by Richard Joyce (1873-1931), perhaps the best of the talented pottery artists brought in by Pilkington, the 11in (28cm) tall vase bore the painted year mark for 1910.
Having been entered from a deceased estate, it was temptingly estimated at £1000- 1500 at the October 24 sale at Donnington Priory but made its money and more, selling at £6500.
