Originally hoping for a career working with horses, in 1963 Yvonne joined her mother, Gladys Green, in running what became a very successful Cheltenham antiques and jewellery business, firstly in Winchcombe Street and later from two premises in the Montpellier area of the town.

The company evolved into Greens of Cheltenham.

In 1970 Yvonne and her mother took part in the first New York British antiques fair and in subsequent years, with her son Stephen, who joined the business in 1977, exhibited at various English antiques fairs including the NEC, Olympia and later in the US.

On retiring from the business, Yvonne was able to return to her passion for racehorses, now as an owner, winning various races including The Hennessy Gold Cup in 2008 with her horse Madison du Berlais.

A dealer of the ‘Old School’, she was a hard worker in a tough business but managed to retain a core of great kindness, coupled with a splendid sense of humour.

Yvonne will be much missed by her sons Paul and Stephen (who continues to run the business from London and New York), her grandchildren, and many friends.
