If I had to sum up in one word the market, which incidentally is the longest street market in the UK, it would be ‘diversity’.

By its very nature the stock of antique dealers changes constantly. Most antique dealers live outside London. They scour the country to find unique pieces and over many years have built up a reputation through the knowledge of their chosen field. This attracts customers from all over the world and sustains our economy.

The rest of the market is following the lead. There are more unique new goods and street food stalls than ever before.

By working together and concentrating on diversity, the future of the Portobello Market and particularly the antiques section looks bright.
