Sunset On the River Oise, a signed, undated 14½ x 2ft 1in (37 x 65cm) oil on wooden panel, depicts a lone figure fishing in a punt on the Oise.
It is a typical subject by the prolific Daubigny, who was a painter of the Barbizon school, and a precursor of Impressionism.
The work, which had been inherited in 1963 by the vendor’s late husband, sold on bottom estimate at £15,000.
