These copies of Het Achterhuis, literally ‘The House Behind’, have made as much as $10,000 – an example that was sold last November by Swann (25/20/12% buyer’s premium) of New York.

On May 15 Swann sold another, described as ‘unusually clean’, for $6500 (£5040).

The copy of that famous work shown above, however, is a well-preserved example in a professionally restored dust jacket of the 1952, first English edition, published as The Diary of a Young Girl. It sold for £600 in a Forum Auctions (25/20/12% buyer’s premium) sale of May 24.
