A 7in (18cm) high leaping salmon by Franz Xaver Bergman (1861-1936) is priced at £1195 from Hickmet Fine Arts in London.

Made in Bergman’s Viennese foundry in 1900, the cold-painted bronze study, with hand-finished detail, is raised on a green Brazilian onyx base and signed with the Bergman B in an amphora vase.

Ashleigh House Fine Art in Saffron Walden, Essex, is offering a French painting by the 19th century painter Léon Emile Caille (1836-1907).

Caille, who is best known for his domestic narrative scenes, painted Washing Day c.1865.

The 8 x 10in (20 x 25cm) oil was exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1861 and Royal Academy in 1878.

It comes in its original frame and is priced at £1850.

A first edition of Beatrix Potter’s Appley Dapply’s Nursery Rhymes will be included in Tennants’ sale of book, maps and ephemera on August 2 in North Yorkshire.

A move away from Potter’s usual narrative tales, it comprises rhymes, verses and illustrations which the author had gathered since the publication of her first book. It was published by Frederick Warne & Co in 1917, selling more than 20,000 copies between October and December that same year. This well-preserved volume comes in its original dust wrapper and is estimated at £800-1200.
