Part of a single collection of decorative arts at the Farleigh, Surrey, sale on December 7, the 7in (18cm) wide clock’s Swiss movement had not been tested and the shagreen was a little faded.
However, its good overall condition and colour helped the clock triple the top estimate when it sold to the trade.
