It comprised a simple group of 1939-45 Star, Air Crew Europe Star and War Medal awarded to W/O Sgt Harold Butler of 218 Squadron, RAFVR. He was killed on August 31, 1943, and is buried in Eindhoven (Woensel) General Cemetery.

As well as the logbook, the lot included several photographs, Buckingham Palace sympathy letter (named), a personal letter Butler sent home from RAF Downham Market and an RAF casualty scroll.

Consigned by a Suffolk collector, it was bought by a local dealer for £900 against an estimate of £350-400.
