For antiques lovers too there are around 100 antiques shops and galleries. A plus for visitors has to be the monthly Fiera Antiquaria di Arezzo, held on the first weekend of the month with the next on Saturday and Sunday, September 2-3.

The market attracts 400 exhibitors whose stands ramble through the city’s central piazzas and winding side alleys with a concentration in the Piazza Grande and the Logge del Vasari.

Launched in 1968 by art dealer and collector Ivor Bruschi, next year the Fiera Antiquaria di Arezzo celebrates its 50th birthday – one cause for partying is the numbers of visitors to each fair: 20,000.

Much goes into the antiques and vintage mix of what’s on offer, from scientific instruments, jewellery and silverware to furniture, paintings, antiquarian books, ceramics and art.
