Participating exhibitors were informed of the departure today.

In a statement to ATG, a spokesperson said: “Masterpiece is looking for a replacement CEO, who would take up the role in the new year. Chairman Philip Hewat-Jaboor will work closely with the team on the fair until a replacement is announced.”

Vassegh joined the fair in January 2013, stepping into the newly created position of chief executive. She was previously at Sotheby’s for 19 years before leaving in 2009 to set up her own business as an art consultant.

Masterpiece is approaching its eighth year. The antiques, art and design fair hosts around 150 British and international dealers in a purpose-built marquee on the grounds of The Royal Chelsea Hospital. The next fair takes place from June 29- July 5, 2017.
