More than half the contents of the sale are by Mucha. They include examples of the posters for which he was most famous ranging from familiar images such his design for Job Cigarettes to others much rarer to the market, such the example pictured left. The 2ft x 10in (61 x 27cm) poster for the perfumier Bleuze Hadancourt of c.1899 is estimated at $15,000-20,000.
Examples of Mucha’s original preparatory sketches are also on offer plus chocolate tins, menus and programmes that trace his career.
The remaining sale lots are posters by other well-known Art Nouveau designers such as Eugène Grasset, Privat-Livemont and Steinlen.
