Karl Rutterford, who deals in salvage and vintage online, started a vintage shop in Birwell, Cambridgeshire (more on this in ATG No 2273), while the Astra Antiques Centre at Hemswell in Lincolnshire opened The Vault on site, focusing on silver, jewellery and some impressive weaponry.
This column featured its first antiques-collecting fire-eating vicar, Father Edward Martin, Vicar of St Augustine & St Andrew’s Church, who appeared earlier this year in an episode of BBC’s Bargain Hunt.
Now open for business in York’s Micklegate is Partisan and the French House, which offers a winning combination of a coffee shop/ restaurant run by Florencia Clifford and Hugo Hildyard which also sells antiques. Items are sourced from The French House, an antiques showroom outside York owned by Stephen Hazell.
