“The Musée du Louvre has asked for the loan of the Salvator Mundi for the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition. We are waiting for the owner’s answer.”

A spokesperson for the Louvre in Paris following speculation over when the painting will finally be unveiled at its new permanent home at the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

“We all knew how hard it is to find an open copy of this version in nice condition, but to find one still sealed is truly something I thought I would never see, even after selling vintage video games for over 20 years”.

Zac Gieg, owner of Just Press Play Video Games in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He joined forces with other enthusiasts to purchase an unopened copy of the classic video game Super Mario Bros for $80,000 (£62,000) at Heritage Auctions in Texas.

“It has long been the ambition of the PMSA to provide a complete listing of public sculpture in the UK for all to access, as easily and inexpensively as possible.”

Sir John Lewis, chairman of the Public Monuments and Sculpture Association (PMSA). It has partnered with Art UK which has launched a new initiative to make the UK’s public sculpture available online for the nation.

“This picture of exquisite beauty will be a true gem in our collection… It fills a gap in the collection since the museum had previously not had any paintings from this period of the master’s œuvre.”

The Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest which acquired a portrait of Princess Mary, daughter of Charles I, by Anthony van Dyck that sold for £5m at Christie’s in December.
