Artvest, run by Jeff Rabin and Michael Plummer, had help establish the fair in New York in 2016 but following negotiations and reported legal action, a two-year management contract was terminated last year. The ending of this contract brought the management of the New York fairs in-house.

TEFAF said it now “fully owns and manages TEFAF New York as part of its global integration strategy”.

Nanne Dekking, chairman of TEFAF, added: “TEFAF is extremely grateful to Jeff Rabin and Michael Plummer for all of their great work in laying the critical foundation for our successful expansion here in New York… In very short order, Artvest and TEFAF together created one of the best operational teams in the fair industry.”

Michael Plummer, Artvest principal, said: “By making the TEFAF New York fairs important cultural events as well as commercial ones, and by creating robust programming and an engaged advisory board of museum directors and leading collectors across the US, we were pleased at how quickly we were able to adapt the TEFAF brand to American sensibilities.”

The next TEFAF New York Spring fair will be held at the Park Avenue Armory from May 2-7, 2019.
