The Welsh artist, whose real name is Charles Uzzell-Edwards, runs his Pure Evil Galleries on Leonard Street in Hoxton, east London, and Dawson’s will hold its third Design At Home auction at the venue on April 7.
The tie-up was led by 20th century design specialist Mark Hill, who began consulting with Dawson’s in 2017. It follows a number of prototypes, artist’s proofs and other artworks by Pure Evil that have recently sold at Dawson’s auctions.
Hill said: “All of us in this business have to think of innovative ways of constantly appealing to existing buyers, as well as introducing new buyers of all ages to the art and antiques we sell. Charles and I realised that we both face many of the same issues, and that we can help each other succeed further by sharing our audiences and marketplaces.”
Among the lots already consigned is an abstract oil on canvas and a number of sculptures.
Pure Evil added: “This will definitely be an exciting crossover and I look forward to seeing where this goes…I’ve been spending time looking at antiques and collectables thinking ‘What can I do with that?’ and this seems like a perfect example. Kind of wish I had thought of it first, but kudos to Dawson’s for suggesting it to me. I had to say YES.”
Dawson’s saleroom is in Maidenhead, Berkshire, and it has a valuation office in Hampstead, north London.
