Webb’s

New Zealand auction house Webb’s has bought Auckland’s contemporary and modern art gallery and auction house Bowerbank Ninow.

Webb’s was bought in early 2018 by Ewen Mackenzie-Bowie and Bruce Qin and held its first auction under new ownership in June that year.

Under Webb’s management Bowerbank Ninow, which was founded by Simon Bowerbank and Charles Ninow in 2015, will continue its regular operations.

The acquisition of Bowerbank Ninow will mean Webb’s can introduce a full-time gallery programme of exhibitions by leading New Zealand and international artists under the Bowerbank Ninow name.

Bowerbank Ninow will move to new premises with larger exhibition space.
The first auctions to take place at Bowerbank Ninow under Webb’s management were photography sales on April 3.
