Chiswick Auctions
Chiswick Auctions has launched its new Scottish office at 93 George Street in Edinburgh and is holding valuation days and preview events in the city this month.
The office is headed by former Bonhams auctioneer Bruce Addison who joined earlier this year.
Addison was previously senior auctioneer and head of furniture at Bonhams Scotland and specialises in furniture and design.
The firm is hosting a valuation day as well as three talks at The Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh on June 6.
The talks are on fashion, wine and a group of rediscovered John Constable pictures that the firm is previewing ahead of a London sale on June 19.
Last week Chiswick announced it is expanding its saleroom and headquarters in west London after purchasing the next-door office complex.
The firm, which has more than 20 specialist departments, will use the new space on Colville Road for larger viewing galleries and staff facilities. It was purchased for £1.3m.
The west London auction house has expanded rapidly, creating new specialist departments and growing its headcount to more 80.
Bonhams
Bonhams has confirmed the appointment of Jim Peake as a specialist in its British ceramics and glass department in Knightsbridge and has also announced the promotion of Fergus Gambon as head of department following the retirement of John Sandon.
Gambon, who joined Bonhams in 1994, said: “I am delighted to be following in the footsteps of my distinguished colleague, John Sandon… a legend in the industry. He will be a hard act to follow, but I am relishing the challenge of maintaining Bonhams’ position as market leader in British ceramics and glass.”
Peake holds a PhD in archaeology and an MSc and BSc in conservation. He had previously worked for Chiswick Auctions and prior to this at Bonhams Bond Street. At Chiswick, he was head of ceramics and glass since 2015.
Unique Auctions
The construction of Unique Auctions new premises in Lincoln.
Unique Auctions is to nearly double its premises in Lincoln with a new 12,500 sq ft showroom.
The firm has operated from a building in the business district on Teal Park, Lincoln since 2016 with five auction rooms, packaging area and a tearoom.
The new building is next to its current 15,000 sq ft site and is under construction with a plan to be completed by October. Read more about Unique Auctions' plan here.

Pimlico Road antiques dealer Humphrey-Carrasco has left the street after a quarter of a century.
The dealership relocated from 43 Pimlico Road to Arch 702, Havelock Terrace, Battersea, on June 1. Read more about the move in ATG's Dealers' Diary section.
David Humphrey and Marylise Carrasco established Humphrey-Carrasco in the late 1980s with a gallery on the Kings Road. In 1994 it moved to Pimlico Road.
