Around 170 items of vintage 1950s and ‘60s designs were taken in Hagley Road, west Birmingham, last week.
Owner Carl Wheeler runs fancy dress shop BuyFeathers and hires out vintage clothes and jewellery to TV and film companies.
He said he believed the theft was a random attack and that the thieves probably had “no idea of the worth or how hard it is to find or replace these items”.
Wheeler added: “As these items are not gold or diamonds, none of your normal cash converter shops would buy them so we thought it best if we tried to let as many traders and auctions know so if they come up for sale they would be recognised hopefully.”
