The fair was previously organised by Devon County Antiques Fairs. Following the sale it has been rebranded the Exeter Matford Antiques & Collectors Fair and continues to take place on Saturdays. The next stagings are set to take place on August 11, September 29 and December 8.

Sue, who will organise the fair with her husband Peter and daughter Katie, said: “We are looking forward to reigniting the event as one of the largest Saturday fairs in the country. Our aim is to enthusiastically refresh it, starting on August 11 with a full advertising and marketing campaign to re-establish it as a 200-300 quality stand event.”

The event has run for more than 25 years and features standholders who exhibit under cover or in the open air. There is a general dateline of 1970.

Ede added: “It will take us some time and a lot of hard work but, with the support of many dealers who show at our fairs in the west and across the country, we are confident we can look forward to a busy and successful future.”
