Fashion designer Victoria Beckham has teamed up with Sotheby’s to preview 16 Old Master paintings in her Dover Street store in Mayfair ahead of an auction on July 4. Photo credit: Chris Floyd.
The exhibition runs until June 27 and the 16 works were selected by Beckham from the upcoming Sotheby’s Old Master evening sale on July 4.
Beckham said it was a visit to the Frick Collection in New York last year that introduced her to the world of Old Masters and started her “fascination”.
Chloe Stead, Sotheby’s Old Master specialist, said: “I hope, that in presenting Victoria’s selection of portraits by the Old Masters in this wonderfully unexpected, modern and sleek space we will be able to participate in some small way in the dialogue surrounding the magic of painted portraiture, and its enduring appeal, even in our modern age of selfie-overload.”
