Following on from the sale of tapestries and carpets held this time last year, the auction house is now focusing on prints and fashion courtesy of a private French collection of late works by the artist in a sale on April 26.

This canvas clutch bag, Diagonale, c.1970, has a flap decorated with a flap of multi-coloured leather. Designed by Sonia Delaunay, it is in good condition, measures 7½ x 11in (17.5 x 28.5cm) and is estimated at €1500-2000 in Piasa’s sale on April 26.

Textiles and fashion were important elements of Delaunay’s oeuvre throughout her career, going back to the time when she designed costumes for Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes.

This c.1965 lithograph, Automne, by Sonia Delaunay is numbered 10/75 and measures 3ft 8in x 2ft 8in (1.13m x 80cm). It is estimated at €3000-4000 in Piasa’s auction on April 26.

As well as a selection of limited edition lithographs from the 1960s and ‘70s, the sale offers scarves, tablecloths and evening bags from the '70s that revisit some of her dramatic and boldly coloured themes, many of them produced as editions for Artcurial.
